Rohtang Pass, at 3,978m on the Manali–Leh highway, is the region's iconic high pass with snow lingering much of the year. Access is permit-controlled and seasonal (typically open May to November), which makes a guided trip the easiest way to visit. When Rohtang is closed, the Atal Tunnel to Sissu is the reliable snow alternative.
